To finish off my WIP I returned to RAF Toome area, the weather was a bit cloudy than I wanted but the module is drawing to the end and I wasn’t sure if the weather would improve. I am away for the last 2 weeks of the module which isn’t ideal, but I am working around it, so hopefully what I have shot today is WIP worthy. Having been happy with my new-found approach of exploring the landscape and not just cataloguing the buildings. I decided to explore other parts of the airfield that I hadn’t looked at before as there weren’t any remnants of buildings. I used Google Earth to make sure I was in the correct area of the old runway and documented what the site has become, a large built up industrial area mainly used by a logistics depot, with farmers around the surrounding area. Although regenerated into commercial use, the landscape still feels a little disused/unfinished.
I returned to the WW2 buildings this time I found it difficult to capture, I couldn’t get access to them as they were on private land. With this area it is a good example to see what I can produce from limited access and see if it will work with the rest of my project. Maybe it will work well with a more external view like the work of Peter Hebeisen- European Battlefields (see looking at Afterwards post). I hope as I put my WIP together there will be cohesion between each body of work if this is not present then it will be back to the drawing board for the next module!
