Work In Progress

Sorry the link is no longer avaiable please see images below.

Using the same platform as previous module SquareSpace, I have created one single gallery presenting 3 airfield sites which total to 18 images. These sites include RAF Toome, RAF Ballyhalbert and RAF Newtownards. This work in progress sees all images cropped to a square format, which was a conscience decision I made during the processing for Newtownards, this led to the recapture in a square format for the other shoots. I have found that a square format has suited my subject and its various compositional elements within the frame. Methodology for this module was to explore these landscapes greatly, look at areas that surround the buildings and infrastructure. It led me to explore different elements such regeneration and geographical placement of airfields.

I decided to shoot at around sunset time with some overcast, to offer a soft diffused light onto the landscape. As my focal point changes throughout this series, shooting at this time helped keep the lightening consistent and reduced shadows within shots. Although sites are very different with setup I have tired to include images that feature the landscape that surrounds the airfield, catalogue any buildings that are left and also a close up shot of a building to emphasis texture and a sort of visual representation of the layers of time.  I think by doing this I am creating a visual journey that highlights these historical airfields/landscapes sites, not just a banal catalogue of WW2 buildings but showcasing the past and the present and how they intertwine together.
