Over the break and the start of the course I carried out 2 recces at Bishops Court and Kirkistown. I just took some quick images on my phone but also, so it had the location on it. I think I had a pretty good scout around to find any remnants and explore what it has or hasn’t developed into.
For my first actual shoot for this module, I got the opportunity to go up in a helicopter and explore the runways from the sky. Think we covered 5 or 6 of them in total, the weather wasn’t great which reflects in the hazy imagery. I’m still pleased with the results and for me this has opened up a different avenue. Most of the areas you can still make out parts of the runway or at least offers context on the landscape with a bird’s eye view. I’m unsure if I will get up again but I will await to hear feedback from peers if this is an element I should pursue. As this project is about airfields, makes sense to me to explore the landscape from the sky. I am conscience that this have all been done before but if it adds context maybe I could look at drone photography too to complement my project…Just a thought for now.
