Project Development-5

For RAF Mullaghmore I was keen to visit as I had captured an aerial of the area at the start of the module, I would be keen to have aerial imagery with the corrosponding ground imagery together in my WIP. The airfield is situated 4 miles south-west of Ballymoney and was a Coastal Command base. It was quite easy to find the airfield, adjacent with the main road. I quickly spotted the control tower (now a private dwelling), runways, dispersals and shooting range. With all shoots this module I am continuing to capture imagery with the GPS turned on as I think this will be an important element within my final body of work. I’m happy with this work I think it shows traces of the past, how it has decayed over time and how the present landscape is claiming it back. Shooting with soft grey light was a conscious decision but with this lighting it is certainly emphasising the decay, the vast empty spaces, many of the buildings just sitting in limbo. I will decide later if these images make my WIP.
