FMP Project Development-6

New action plan for my project as the date for Digital Centenaries Festival is drawing closer. I will group images into categories so far I have Control Towers, Hangars, Airfields and Defensive Structures. My work I was most happy with during the MA was with Module 3 so I will try and utilize what I can from there as well as additional shoots to create these categories. I will try to include a wider frame as to capture the structure and the landscape as this gives context to location and perhaps its present-day role.   I had a very busy schedule in order to capture these shots, I went out every night until it was complete some required reshoots as the weather was not quite right.

Limavady- I have been to this area many times so I know where all the buildings are. Not happy with the weather with this shoot so I will return.

Long Kesh & Maghaberry- Long Kesh is home to Ulster Aviation Museum to I had to meet with Ernie Cromie to gain access. Very happy with the shots, I firstly went to capture the hangar and possibly the airfield but instead I captured a pillbox that fits nicely into the defensive structures. The light was still ok so I managed to get 20 mins down the road to Maghaberry. Admittedly this is not my favourite shot and is a little weak, but access to these hangars to impossible and this is the only angle.

Eglington & Limavady- First time to Eglington so I went early as to locate structures, I went for the hangars but managed to find some airfield defensive structures too. Happy with these as they were a good example of a different type of hangar with good access. As the light was good again I got down the road to Limavady to reshoot. Turns out I some of the shots from my first shoot at Limavady were ok. I thought they looked a bit grey but it is the area its self, derelict, rundown and vasts amount of concrete.

Greencastle- Finally got the shots I needed to take this off the list. I wanted to make sure I included the boundary wall as that is the runway broken up for the wall.

Aldergrove & Bishops Court- Started early at Aldergrove to capture the hangar, difficult to negotiate a good angle but happy with the outcome. Bishops Court I managed to capture the Control Tower and the runway, the sun was in and out so had to remain patient.

Cluntoe- Weather was a little tricky but went with it anyways as I had to get this shot as bad weather is fast approaching for the rest of the week.

For all images I have chosen to crop at a 5:4 ratio and when printed will be 8inx10in, I didn’t want a square format this time, so this just seem to work for all subjects. I have tried to make the light consistent throughout, having the setting sun diffused by clouds. For me this lighting complements many of the buildings and structures, focusing on the grey military form that this architecture often brings.
