This week I met with historian Ernie Cromie, I have worked with him throughout the project but wanted him to view every image to see if anything significant came up about the image that I could use as context in my captions. I have a whole list notes that I will aid me when it comes to writing the text (kind of putting that off, but will attack it next week). Ernie pointed me in the direction of Jonny McNee another historian that bases himself north west of NI so that would include places like Limavady. I have sent him an email and have arranged a meeting for next week, again to see if I can add context to captions or that area.

Books from historian Ernie Cromie
I also asked Ernie if he had any contacts for Langford Lodge a site that I haven’t been able to get access yet. I phoned/emailed the contact and hopefully he will get back to me, it’s a bit late in the game to taking more photos but I can’t resist capturing one more site. On the site there is various buildings left and have been preserved well, as it is owned by a private company too, not many of the public have access to it. Finally, Ernie also gave me a few books that I can go over that feature infrastructure from military airfields and also the heritage report of Long Kesh.
This week I also took a quick recce to 2 other sites, previously I had been to them at the start of the project but could not find the buildings I was looking for. I thought as I was doing one more push for photos at Langford Lodge I would visit these other 2 areas Kirkistown, Ballywalter. Unfortunately Ballywalter I only found one pillbox that wouldn’t work photographically and Kirkistown just couldn’t get close enough to it. Looking at other sites there is one in particular that bothers me that I haven’t included, Killadeas if I get time I will return to see if there is anything that will work photographically to be included.
